After receiving your braces, you will periodically return to the dentist’s office to have them adjusted. This keeps your teeth moving in the right directions for malocclusion correction. You may find that your mouth feels a little uncomfortable for the next few days as you adjust. Pamper your mouth by avoiding chewy foods, such as tough cuts of meat. Instead, select softer sources of protein, such as tofu and lentils.
Although vegetables are a healthy choice for your diet, they can be difficult to eat after having your braces tightened. Avoid vegetables that require a great deal of chewing, such as green beans. Instead, try slightly overcooked vegetable soup. Avoid crunchy snacks, such as celery, crackers, and chips. Instead, try making a fruit smoothie or eat some yogurt.
