What Is a Cavity?

Last updated 3 years ago

A cavity is a hole in the tooth that starts off small but can quickly expand. A breakdown or bacteria penetration into the solid part of the tooth causes this hole that can lead to bigger issues if it is not properly treated.

If it gets deep enough, a cavity can move into the nerve or the pulp of the tooth and cause significant pain. Check out this video to learn more about cavities and how they form.
