Dr. Kenn Kakosian - Dental Bonding Information

    Last updated 7 years ago

In this video on bonding in dentistry, we get an inside look at bonding and how it is used in dentistry.

Bonding is a technologically advanced method of attaching different materials to human teeth. Dentists have bonding materials that will bond to metal, porcelain, and a variety of other elements. This means that dentists can use bonding techniques to repair fractured porcelain crowns and broken bridges. These bonds are made to last. Crowns that are properly bonded with a plastic resin-based cement can last nearly forever—upwards of 200 to 300 years. Or in other words, they will last much longer than we need them to.

Get It Straight With Invisalign from Dr. Kakosian!

Remember back in middle school when almost every kid had a mouth full of big, bulky braces? And everyone hated them and couldn’t wait to get them off and see their new straight teeth?

Well, unfortunately, not all of us suffered the humiliation of braces back in middle school. If you’re one of the many adults embarrassed by your teeth, you’re not alone. But this can change.

Cosmetic dentists all over NYC have many tools and techniques to help you straighten your teeth.

Before you run off to your dentist to ask about teeth straightening, let’s take a look at the different types of braces available today:

    • Traditional stainless-steel braces are what most of us envision when we hear the word braces. The ligatures attached to your teeth can be customized with many different colors. These are the least expensive choice for teeth straightening, but can also stain your teeth’s enamel.
    • Ceramic braces are translucent and, therefore, less visible to an outside observer, making them very popular among teenagers. However, these braces are prone to breaking because of how brittle they are.
    • Lingual dental braces are worn behind the teeth, making them the least visible of the three. However, these are also the most expensive, are difficult to adjust, and can leave your tongue getting cut up quite often.

Which brings us to Invisalign—a nearly invisible way to straighten your teeth. Invisalign uses a series of alligners for your teeth, which gradually straighten them over time. It can help with overly crowded teeth, widely spaced teeth, and a number of problems in between! Many people, especially adults, prefer Invisalign because of its discretion.

It also allows for easier maintenance, as it can be removed for cleaning and eating. Invisalign also tends to take less time than more traditional braces, allowing you to enjoy your new smile even sooner.

Dr. Kenn Kakosian DDS is highly trained in Invisalign cases and can help you decide if it’s right for you. We also specialize in zoom whitening and lumineers, so we can create the ultimate dazzling smile for you!
